Declutter

Tips On How To Declutter your home.

If you are selling your home of if you are staging to stay in your new organized clutter free home - here are some great tips!

One thing that we notice a lot is that when home owners go to stage their home they take away things in the home to the point of not having any personality left to it.

Be careful when you declutter that you do not take away too much be it too many pieces of furniture or too many accents.

Tips To Duclutter your home the right way:

1) You want the room you are working on to look organized and clutter free but not to bare. Don't take away everything in the room living it cold and not lived in.

2) Look at the room what pieces in the room give your room personality and style without making it look overdone - these are the pieces you want to keep in a room.

3) When styling a dinging room do not leave just a bare table and chairs - set the table with nice table ware, good lighting, a nice cabinet or hutch for storage of plates or nicknacks.

4) When reorganizing your bed rooms make the bedroom up, nice curtains or shades to let in sunshine, make up the bed with nice linens, leave nothing that looks too unorganized on top of corner tables or bureaus a nice lamp on the corn night table or night stand with a small alarm clock adds just the right touch. On top of dresser a mirror or nice art work above with nice candles or jewelry box on top always looks great and doubles over as storage for tiny items.

5) If you are staging your finished basement make it look lived in . A nice finished basement adds to the bottom line of the sale of your home so make the finished basement look like it is a fun room to your home where you can entertain guests as a home theater, or game room. Nice furniture will add the extra living space that home buyers are looking for.

6) Always look under your bed it may seem an odd thing to do as most people will not look under your bed but this is a place that we tend to collect a lot of needless clutter. If you find you have lots of things under your bed just thrown about and they are things that you would like to keep, get under the bed storage cases or boxes to store your items.

7) Kitchen cabinets and linen closets are also a place that we store things we do not need and sometimes just looking for a place to keep items we may someday need or use - TIP if you have not used an item in the past year chances are you are not going to again so give it away to charity. TIP when going through your kitchen cabinets look at the dates on foods, condiments and vitamins etc and throw away all items that are out of date. Same with your refrigerator - go through it once a week and take out the old and put in the new. Sometimes we think that food items like jellies and salad dressing will last forever but they do have an expiration date.

8) Learn to keep only items you need and give away the rest, saving things from year to year only adds up to un-organization of your home.

9) If you are saving baby items and keep sakes get memory boxes and scrap books to keep all of your memories safe and out of the way until you want to share them with others.

10) Your child's room this is a place that can become a room that will get out of control with clutter quickly, take inventory and if your child is getting older go through the room or rooms with them and find out what they still like to play with or want to keep as keepsakes sometimes this can be harder to do as a parent than the child as our children's things have so much sentimental value to them. We have taken many of the children's tee shirts from vacations or as gifts or relatives on travels and instead of keeping them on the top of the closet we have made little picture boxes with them and put them up on the walls in a cool display.
